StepShown is now the public name
Updated the name across navigation, explanations, trust pages, exports, embeds, search metadata, structured data, and social previews. The new rising step mark reflects the promise to show how every answer was found.
The product name now matches stepshown.com everywhere people and search engines see it. Calculations, routes, saved scenarios, and eligibility rules are unchanged.
Checked state car cost comparisons
Added a state selector to Auto Loan using the latest comparable NAIC insurance and U.S. Energy Information Administration gasoline data. Thirty seven material state guides change only those two checked inputs.
People can see a more local running cost without StepShown guessing transaction tax, registration, dealer fees, trade in treatment, electric charging, or a personal insurance quote. Any estimate can be replaced.
Material state decision guides
Added 113 state planning guides across Mortgage, Cash to Close, and Rent vs. Buy. Every guide keeps one scenario equal, changes the location inputs, and exists only when a tested materiality threshold clears.
People can see when location genuinely changes a payment, cash requirement, or rent or buy result without wading through name swapped state pages. Auto Loan stays excluded until vetted local data exists.
Source backed answers and two new comparison tools
Added a governed answer library, a complete Trip Cost Planner, and a Salary vs. Contract comparison that keeps entered compensation, capacity, collection, reserve, and costs visible.
People can understand the decision before calculating it, compare driving with flying as complete trip budgets, and compare employee with contract economics without hidden tax or classification claims.
Profit Threshold and clearer site copy
Added a small business workspace that solves cost coverage, target profit, delivery capacity, and pricing boundaries from one set of inputs. Public prose across StepShown now avoids dash punctuation and joined words.
A business can test whether expected sales and real delivery capacity support an offer, while every page uses calmer, more natural language without changing technical URLs or calculation state.
Complete route accessibility and privacy evidence
Expanded WCAG coverage to every public page, added complete secondary keyboard flows for all eleven workspaces, and corrected result announcements, definition list structure, and one contrast edge.
Screen reader users now receive one complete result update, every sharing and CSV path has keyboard coverage, and the public privacy boundary distinguishes analytics redaction from hosting request logs.
Receipt splitting and tip policy hardening
Rebuilt Tip & Bill Split around entered receipt amounts, exact cent allocation, neutral service charge treatment, controlled itemized rows, and explicit multi currency state.
Every receipt component now reconciles exactly, voluntary tip stays separate from required charges and rounding, old shared links remain readable, and currency display never implies an exchange conversion.
Compound growth planning contract hardening
Rebuilt the Compound Interest workspace around explicit month end deposits, a nominal return before the modeled fee, bounded loss states, purchasing power, and a future dollar goal solver.
The result now separates deposits from positive or negative modeled change, states exactly what the fee comparison means, and shows the contribution required to reach the entered goal under the same assumptions.
GPA policy and target model hardening
Rebuilt the GPA workspace around one selected policy, explicit current and future weighting bonuses, bounded course state, and institution specific limits.
Cumulative and target results now stay on the same scale, distinguish reachable from retainable goals, treat Pass and F explicitly, and avoid presenting one grading rule as universal.
Startup runway cash timing hardening
Rebuilt the runway result around cash collected and paid, a finite 120-month horizon, durable operating break even, and explicitly timed outside funding scenarios.
The workspace now reports a bounded cash floor without promising cash lasts forever, keeps month one timing visible, and exports the complete modeled horizon.
Auto loan math and evidence hardening
Rebuilt the vehicle workspace around entered transaction documents, corrected tax and fee financing, and removed unsupported model, state, insurance, and credit tier estimates.
The loan, cash due, negative equity projection, and ownership cost total now reconcile without false local precision, while every example value is dated, sourced, editable, and clearly labeled.
Search readiness without premature indexation
Reviewed the decision value of all eleven workspaces and tightened canonical, sitemap, and structured data behavior on temporary deployments.
StepShown remains usable on its Vercel address without presenting that temporary host as the permanent search identity or carrying retired search markup.
Source freshness and decision path measurement
Added enforceable source review deadlines plus privacy safe completion and related workspace measurement.
People can see where references apply and when StepShown will review them again, while aggregate product signals remain free of calculator values and URLs.
Clean sharing and attributed embeds
Added scenario free clean links, copyable workspace embeds, scoped framing controls, and embed return measurement.
People can share an StepShown workspace without its numbers or embed a full scenario with visible attribution and a direct path back to the complete tool.
Launch foundations and visible methodology
Added source and review records, privacy safe telemetry, security headers, trust policies, automated browser coverage, and governed sitemap dates.
Every workspace now says who owns its method, which sources support it, when it changed, and whether independent specialist review is still pending.
Accessibility, sharing, and production hardening
Fixed the mobile search name, added a real 404, aligned local production behavior, clarified shared scenario privacy, and completed a responsive route audit.
StepShown is easier to navigate with assistive technology and makes the privacy trade off of shareable calculator URLs visible before copying.
