Your inputs are for the calculation, not a profile.

Your calculator numbers can be saved inside the page address. This lets the page keep your answer after a refresh and lets you share the same example. StepShown does not keep a separate database of these examples. Anyone with the link can see and change the numbers in it.

Vercel is the company that hosts StepShown. When you open a page, Vercel can process the full page address. Normal request and security logs can also include the time, network address, browser details, the page you came from, and similar service information. This means numbers inside an StepShown link can reach the hosting system. Treat an StepShown link as shared information, not private storage.

A copied link or website embed includes the current numbers by default. Before copying, you can remove one field, remove one row from a list, or make a clean link with every calculator number removed. Never enter account numbers, medical diagnoses, addresses, or other information that identifies a person.

“Copy result summary” works only when you choose it. The summary includes the main answer, three visible results, and your selected link. The answer may still reveal something about a number you removed from the link. StepShown warns you when this can happen. The summary is made in your browser and is not saved as a server record.

Some apps make a picture preview of a shared link. StepShown can put the main estimated answer in that picture. It does not list every number, but the answer itself may still reveal something about your example.

A tool placed inside another website says “Powered by StepShown” and links to the full example. Search engines are asked not to list the embedded copy. Sharing or embedding does not create a saved StepShown record.

StepShown uses Vercel Web Analytics to count page use. It uses Vercel Speed Insights to measure how quickly pages work for real visitors. Before either tool receives a page address, StepShown removes the part that contains calculator numbers. StepShown can count approved actions, such as sharing a mortgage result. It does not send the calculator numbers or words you type.

Web Analytics can process the page path, event time, page you came from, broad location, browser, device system, device type, and approved actions. Vercel says this service is anonymous and does not use cookies. Speed Insights measures standard page speed signals along with enough page, device, and broad location information to group the results. Vercel also processes normal service, release, use, and speed information under its privacy notice. StepShown does not add advertising trackers.

StepShown Journey can also save a private goal in your browser when you choose to create one. The saved plan can include the type of goal, starting amount, current amount, goal amount, monthly amount, goal date, dated progress amounts, personal best, and whether you tested another path. Journey does not put these values in the page address or send them through StepShown analytics.

A Journey plan stays in that browser until you remove the plan or clear the website data. A person who can use the same browser profile may be able to open it. StepShown does not have a copy and cannot restore it. Copying the plan summary shares the visible amounts with the clipboard and any person or app you choose to send it to.

A comma separated values file, called a CSV file, is a simple spreadsheet file. CSV downloads, printing, and portable document format files, called PDF files, are made by your browser. StepShown does not receive the downloaded file.
